flight PlanAeromexico, Mexico’sglobal airline, announces its second daily flight to Orlando and its fourth daily service to Miami from its main hub at the Mexico City International Airport.The airline has added one more daily flight between Mexico City and Orlando, which primary benefit will be seen in the con- nectivity offered from the nation’s capital to Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Villahermosa in Mexico, and to Lima, Santiago, and Sao Paulo, among other destinations in Latin America.Air Canada has confirmed it will introduce year-round mainline service to Amsterdam from Toronto beginning in June 2015. Additions to the summer network also include new Air Canada rouge seasonal service from Montreal to Venice and be- tween Vancouver and Osaka.Aer Lingus Regional has launched its double-daily Dublin-Leeds Bradford service. The service is operated by Stobart Air and provides a link to the US through Dublin for Leeds-based passengers who can conveniently connect to Aer Lin- gus’mainline transatlantic services.Air New Zealand will add an extra flight a day on its Auckland-Los Angeles route. Between April and October a third flight will depart Auckland to LA on Monday, Thursday and Saturday, adding an extra 20% seat capacity.American Airlines has filed an application for the right to operate new service from Dallas/Fort Worth Interna- tional Airport (DFW) to Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) beginning next summer. Once approved, the new route will be the first nonstop flight connecting the destinations.And AmericanAirlineswilllauncha new service to Germany with daily flights between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Frankfurt Airport (FRA) beginning 14 May 2015.British Airways has added an- other three new routes to its 2015 Gatwick schedule. Seville, Funchal and Las Palmas from March 2015.And... From December this year, new winter sun and ski destinations will include Fuerteventura, Friedrichshafen and Grenoble.And... BA will start new double-daily service to Bilbao on March 29th, 2015. The new route is matched by Spanish carrierVueling, who currently fly from Heathrow and are moving their four times a week service to Gatwick.And... The airline has also announced a new summer only flight from London Heathrow (Terminal 5) to Split. Flights will be scheduled twice a week between 3 May and 20 September next year, departing on Wednesday and Sunday.And... BA Day trips Colm Lacy, British Airways’Head of Commercial for Gatwick, said: “In addition to the new routes, we are also responding to customer demand and now offer our customers day- trip and hand baggage only fares starting from £39 each-way, based on a return fare”.Brussels Airlines announced three newcomers in its autumn and winter pro- gram, from 26 October: Riga, Krakow, Warsaw.CityJet’s daily flights from Cambridge to Amsterdam and Dublin have stopped. The services started in May but according to passenger reports never attracted sig- nificant numbers.easyJet will launch a new service from London-Luton to Naples (from 29 Novem- ber 2014) and will also fly from London- Luton to Rome in Summer 2015.And... easyJet has announced new flights from Bristol to Gibraltar three times a week from 19 April 2015, year round, to Porto three times a week from 19 April 2015, year round, to Catania twice a week from 14 May 2015, summer only, to Lan- zarote twice a week from 18 April 2015, year round.Estonian Air will add flights between Tallinn and Milan to its summer flight schedule. The flights will be twice a week, on Tuesdays and Sundays.Ethiopian Airlines will commence flights to Dublin and Los Angeles starting from June 2015, and will be operated three times a week with the ultra-modern Boeing 787 Dreamliner, The flights will be the only direct service connecting Africa with Ireland and the West Coast of the United States.Etihad Airways has announced six new routes for the first half of 2015, starting with Kolkata in February, Madrid in March, Entebbe in May, and Edinburgh, Hong Kong and Algiers in June.Its first service from Scotland with the start of a nonstop daily flight fromEdinburgh to its home base of Abu Dhabi.In addition to providing a direct con- nection between Edinburgh and Etihad Airways’Abu Dhabi hub, it will enable passengers and to connect conveniently to Etihad Airways’destinations across the Gulf region, Asia, Australia and Africa.finnair istointroduceanewflight from Helsinki to Dublin, seasonal, six- times weekly service beginning on 30 March 2015.Icelandair will begin a seasonal non-stop service from Portland, Oregon to Reykjavik beginning 20 May 2015 and continuing through to 21 October 2015.Jet2.com will fly from Manchester to Turin as from December 2014 and will also introduce a service from Belfast to Rome as from 5 April 2015.Monarch is flying new routes from Leeds Bradford to Barcelona will also be added to the winter schedule and will depart on a Monday and a Friday, starting on13 February 2015.They will also intro- duce flights from Leeds Bradford to Alicante and Naples as part of its summer 2015 schedule. Flights to Dalaman and Faro will rise in frequency while Barcelona, Faro and Mahon will enjoy better flight times.Ryanair will offer more flights to Brati- slava and Krakow from Liverpool airport next summer.SkyWork Airlines, the small inde- pendent Swiss airline, has moved its ser- vice to Bern, from London City to Southend Airport. The twice daily flights (Monday to Friday with a single return operation both Saturday and Sunday) are timed to offer business people a full day at either end with the return in the evening.SWISS From the start of the 2015 summer schedules, the airline will offer flights from Zurich to 22 new destinations. Sixteen of the new points - Naples, Bari, Bilbao, Porto, Toulouse, Leipzig, Dresden, Graz, Gothenburg, Helsinki, Riga, Krakow, Ljubljana, Sarajevo, Sofia and Zagreb -will be provided with year-round service, while six of them -Palermo, Brindisi, Malta, Thes- saloniki, Izmir and Santiago de Compostela - will be served in the summer months.And... SWISS will also be expanding flights from and to Geneva, with the addi- tion of 16 weekly Geneva-Lugano flights. Additionally Florence (with four weekly frequencies),Sarajevo (with two weekly flights), Valen- cia (with two weekly services) and Skopje (with two weekly flights) will be served all year round; and Palermo, Calvi, Thessaloni- ki and Zakynthos will receive new seasonal service in the summer months.Thomson will increase flights from the UK to Dubrovnik from next year. Flights will be available from regional airports includ- ing Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow and Bristol.Transaero the Russian airline has launched a new twice-weekly non-stop service between London Heathrow and St Petersburg. The flights, operate on Wednes- days and Saturdays with a Boeing 737.Fares will start at £186 return, including taxes.And... the airline has launched sched- uled flights between Moscow and Mur- mansk for the first time and will operate from Moscow Domodedovo Airport three times per week on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.United Airlines will introduce non- stop flights between Newcastle, England, and its New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport, from 23 May2015. Flying five times weekly until 7 September next year, the launch is subject to govern- ment approval. It will be Newcastle’s first scheduled non-stop transatlantic service.Virgin Atlantic will add Belfast and Glasgow routes to the network for holiday flights for next year . The Belfast to Orlando route will operate in June and July, commencing 25 June 2015 whilst Glasgow - Las Vegas is set for the autumn starting 10 September.Both of these routes form part of Virgin Atlantic’s Joint Venture with Delta Air Lines, with the US carrier offering the service for sale under the codeshare agreement. Customers will be able to use Delta’s flights seamlessly for onward connections.And... Virgin has announced its inten- tion to cease its Little Red operation next year. Daily services between Heathrow and Manchester will continue until the endof March 2015, while its flights between Heathrow and Edinburgh and Aberdeen will continue throughout summer 2015 with the final flights in September 2015.WestJet, the Canadian budget op- erator is to introduce daily, direct flights between Glasgow and Halifax, Nova Scotia during summer 2015.On the Road issue 217Page 14
