the Holy Grail. Presented at both Castles Lenzburg and Hallwyl
One of Switzerland’s oldest and most important strongholds.
Its oldest part consists of a spacious High Medieval complex,
- seat of the ruling Counts of Lenzburg, later the Kyburg
dynasty,subsequently Counts of Habsburg, then Bernes
bailiffs for over 350 years. Now accommodates the historical
museum of Canton Aargau.

Stories surrounding the King, his Knights, and
the Holy Grail. Presented at both Castles Lenzburg and Hallwyl
The Water Castle on Lake Hallwil. In the late
12th century, the Lords of Hallwyl erected a residential
tower. The impressive foundation walls formed the core of the
later castle complex. Extended to a double moated castle in
the 14th century. Enclosed by a ring work and a
water-filled moat, Hallwyl developed from a modest residence
to a strongly fortified castle. The permanent exhibition
illustrates 900 years of history of the castle and its
inhabitants.

Housed in the lavishly restored 12C Castle, the Museum of
History and Porcelain offers temporary exhibitions of
photography and contemporary art, a display of the magnificent
18C Nyon Porcelain and the gripping atmosphere of prison cells
that were closed only in 1979.
